Observation of Etiology and Clinical Findings of Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Paralysis

Abstract
The author observed on the etiology and clinical findings of 62 recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis during the period of January 1970 through August 1975 at department of otolaryngology, college of medicine, Busan National University..
The results were as follows;
1. The male was two times more frequently involved than the female and 5th decade was most prevalent age group as 22.6% and decreased incidence was disclosed at under or a e 5th decade.
2. Hoarseness was complained in the almost cases and. associated with dyspnea or swallowing difficulty were also in some cases.
3. Time lag from onset to diagnosis was revealed in most frequently within in 2 months butt the others were noticed in broad distribution.
4. The incidence of the etiological factors were disclosed that neoplasm took 27.4% ass highest incidence and unknown origin took 27.4% also.
Relationship between the etiology and age showed that neoplasm was occurred mostly in 5th decade.
5 In the paralysed vocal cord, left side was the most easily attacked in 61.3%, and median and paramedian position were occupied in the almost cases.
The position of paralysed vocal cord was migrated tendency from median to paramedian and intermediate according to progress of paralysis.
